This is my formal apology to Tara. For the last two years I have been on the hunt for a really cute tall black boot with a narrow calf. I foolishly believed that such a thing existed (and sort of still do) . For some reason, shoe designers seem to think that just because I have a size 10 foot I must be a very wide calfed person. Not the case! To look at these boots with these ridiculous calves I want to laugh - it looks like I have chicken legs. Tall, shapely legs are a bane.
And this brings me back to Tara. Sorry, honey, I can tell you're going to be tall and likely will have that skinny frame for life and will forever be searching for boots that are made for narrow calves. I will make it my mission that these things change by the time she's looking. A decade ago you couldn't find an inseam longer than 32 inches. Now I can easily find a 34 inch inseam; perhaps it's just a matter of shouting louder for boots to me made narrow.
I shouldn't have to pay upwards of $50 on top of the price I pay for each boot just so it can look the way it's meant to. Maybe only models have this issue, and since they have every customization at their fingertips it doesn't bother them.
