Running... away from the gym

I have been bad. Very, very bad. I signed up at my local Goodlife and was religiously walking in the door there at 7:20 each morning. Then came the holidays, the trip to NYC to visit MSH and it's week 2 of being back home and I haven't yet been to the gym. How bad am I?!?!

All of this will change starting tomorrow. I will put the kids to bed at a decent hour so I can get enough sleep to wake up at 5:30 and get to the gym at 7:20. Done.

When I was at the gym I was working on getting faster. Right now my fastest pace is 6.5 mph, I'd like to be at 7mph. I know that's not super fast but that would be fast for me. So, I have been doing some speed work. I run at the pace I want to be at (say my goal for the week is 6.6mph) for as long as I can then I slow down to 3.5mph until I'm mentally ready again to go at the new speed. So far I've been pretty successful. I didn't realize that being away from the gym for such a short amount of time really slows me down. I suppose it's like anything in life, use it or lose it.

On another note, this is the warmest January that I can recall in a long time. Well, other than the one last year in Saba, but that doesn't count.
